About the programme
The Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship builds the knowledge, skills and behaviours to support teachers and improve pupil progress. Blended online learning, regular tutor visits and off the job training cover whole class support, safeguarding and assessment.
Around 6 months into the programme, learners can choose at least one certificated specialism from SEND, Early Years, EAL, Behaviour or Assessment, tailoring their development to the needs of their pupils and their setting. The SEND specialism builds expertise across speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, dyslexia and supporting autistic pupils.
As well as ensuring full competency as a teaching assistant, the apprenticeship builds a platform for progression into roles such as Higher Level Teaching Assistant, assistant teacher and teacher.
